Every sport star in the world dreams of two thing, to be part of all the big tournaments and hopefully at the end win the most important trophies. And every soccer player has one wish in his life, to play for his national team at the world cup. Its just few weeks to the Fifa World Cup in Russia and it seems like many big names will be missing from the tournament.
Monday marked the deadline for all the national teams who will be participating on Russia 2018 World Cup to submit their official 23 man squads. The world was shocked after Leroy Sane was not included in the 23 man Germany team. Julian Brandt was preferred to Sane and when asked the German manager said: “it was tight…Julian Brandt had some good games at the Confederations Cup and was also very good in training, it was close. Leroy has a huge talent and he’ll be there again, and we’ll have to work more with him again from September onwards”
Sane was a huge key figure in Guardiola’s City men that won the Premier League title, the young star who scored 10 goals and made 15 assists in 28 games was named the PFA young play of the year. Julian Draxler, who hardly played for PSG this season in the UEFA League is preferred over Sane.
Earlier this year, Joe Hart made it clear that he hopes to see himself in the plan to Russia with the England national team. But after being loaned more than once by Guardiola and not able to perform at his best in the past three seasons, the new England manager Gareth Southgate informed the world last month that he will not be including Joe hart on his team. Instead, the manager decided to go with youth and inexperience goalkeepers. On Tuesday this month, he confirmed Jordan Pickford as his number one for the tournament. Arsenal forward Jack Wilshere was also not included on the team after he suffered countless injuries that made it difficult for him to perform for Arsenal in the last two seasons.
Following a vertical season with Man-United, Anthony Martial was left out the squad harding to heading to Russia to represent the French nation at the World Cup. instead the 22 year old is on standby, surely his age speaks clearly that this is not the end of the old, he could still play on the next World Cup. The French manager also left out the Arsenal forward Lacazette, who found it hard to settle in the English league.
It was a shock to the world after it was confirmed by the Spanish national manager that Marco Alonso will not be flying to Russia to represent his nation. In his two years in the English league, the Chelsea man has made an incredible impact. Another Chelsea a player who has capped Brazil for more than 50 times is David Luiz, will not play for his country in Russia after missing the last three months of the season for Chelsea. It is not the first time he has been left out by Brazil for a major tournament though, also missing the Copa America Centenario in 2016.
