The ARU President, King Mthimkhulu III Bryce Mthimkhulu joined in to celebrate with izintombi nto at the Youth Day Celebration in Mpumalanga, Ermelo.
The event was hosted by Paramount Chief Hadebe on the 16th of June 2018, as the day signifies “Youth uprising”- to recognize the role of the youth on the road to liberation of South Africa in 1976. The special event in Mpumalanga, Ermelo was to honor izintombi, to celebrate the etiquette of izintombi on how far they’ve come in their conduct as virgins in the community of Ermelo.
The ARU President addressed and advised the young girls to embrace their uniqueness, to take care of themselves, respect their standing as izintombi nto and work hard at school as there are opportunities for them if they take studying as a vital aspect in their lives, which will result to having a better tomorrow and he will personally make sure they have a better future.
The young girls from various areas in Mpumalanga commemorated their day performing in a true “izintombi nto” style, singing songs of embracing their culture and dancing traditional routines according to their tribes.
Amongst the attendees to the event were; Chiefs of amaHlubi from Mpumalanga and Chiefs from Kwazulu-Natal.
